when i paint, i’m not decorating — i’m processing. the hand moves, the mind quiets, and something that had no shape starts to take form. that’s photosynthesis. taking raw input and turning it into something that sustains you.

doesn’t have to be painting. just make something with your hands and see what your brain does.

This painting taught me something important.

I made this work while trying to respond to something external. The idea felt aligned, but along the way, I adjusted myself more than the work needed. Looking back, I realise it wasn’t about the concept missing, it was about drifting slightly from my own language.

This painting became a quiet reminder: ideas can travel far, but the work holds best when it stays close to how I naturally think and make. Not everything needs to be reshaped to fit. Some things already know what they are.

Becoming is a visual meditation on transformation, not as a rupture, but as a slow, internal unfolding. At its center, a resting face emerges, submerged within biological and emotional currents, existing without needing to be recognized. Organic forms inspired by fungi, veins, and cellular structures grow and dissolve around it, symbolizing interdependence and the quiet cycles of decay, healing, and emergence. The circular format echoes containment and experimentation, reminding us that identity is never fixed, only shaped by time, memory, and resistance. This work doesn’t seek resolution. It holds the tenderness of the in-between. Becoming is not a portrait, but a state. Identity as a pulse, always shifting, always in process.
